Requirements

• LaTeX with FoilTeX package, following packages are useful
  • alltt
  • fancyheadings
  • babel
  • times (PostScript fonts)
  • graphicx (for inclusion of pictures)
  • color (for background and text colors)
  • hyperref (for urls)

  Most of those are part of standard LaTeX distributions. If your system does not include those, you can find them at CTAN.

• sh-compatible shell (read this as: UNIX™ variant as operating system. It may be possible to adapt system for other enviroments.)
• GNU make
• dvips if you want to do PostScript or PDF slides and handouts. It may be possible to use pdflatex.
• Adobe Distiller or ghostscript with ps2pdf script.
• xfig with transfig if you plan to use xfig as drawing tool
• other image format to ps/pdf converters (one that can be run from command line
